So it seems I have been using the blog here at BoraWare.com for announcments more than actual blogging. I've decided I am going to try to get in to the habbit of making posts here in the BoraBlog at least once or twice a week to keep everyone up to date on where things are at with the various BoraWare titles. The big thing cooking up is ptpChat 2.0, the next generation IRC client from BoraWare. As many already know I decided to branch ChatWorks in to seperate projects rather than one big one. ptpChat 2 is the IRC branch which will be provided as a free upgrade to current ptpChat 1.X users. So where does ptpChat 2 stand and when can you get it? Honestly it's very close to being released as 2.0 Beta. After stripping all of the IM stuff out I centered my attention on connection stability. I am happy to report that I have run some tests and successfully kept ptpChat 2 connected to my IRC server for 15+ hours straight, in the background, without disconnect. I also recently added the ability to detect when the connection is unavailable (such as during a phone call or going out of data range) and intelligently reconnect when it is available again. I'm going to let ptpChat 2 idle on my Centro for a straight 24 hours and if it can keep itself alive and not cause errors or resets I will begin the beta release phase. I have decided to release ptpChat 2.0 Beta as a completely public release. Rather than having a log in screen like ChatWorks there will simply be a registration screen similar to ptpChat 1.X. The registration code will be the same as ptpChat 1.X meaning it will be a completely free upgrade. I'm looking for some people to help beta test ptpChat 2 and give me suggestions for features as well as bug reports. I will be giving free registration codes a few people that give me great feedback and help me make ptpChat 2 far better than ptpChat 1. If you'd like to become a part of the ptpChat 2 team start at our development forum here on BoraWare.com (link at the top of the site). Anyhow, that's where things are at. I'll try to keep everyone posted more often.
