I'm having trouble running ptpChat2 in the background. Every time (or at least most times) I switch to a different app, my connection gets closed. It does reconnect after a few seconds, but it's still pretty annoying for other people in the channel to see this message every so often:

*** nithya quit (Remote host closed the connection)

followed by the rejoin message.

I'm a palm noob, so maybe I'm doing something wrong here. I don't need to do anything special to make ptpChat2 run in the bg, right? When I want to use another app, I should be able to just switch right to it without losing my connection...or at least that is what I assumed.

I'm running it on a Centro, btw.

Oh and my ping timeouts issue seems to be fixed now after I enabled "Send Client-Side
Pings" like you suggested.

Which IRC network are you on? Perhaps it's replying to the client-side pings in an unusual way.

Hmm perhaps. I'm on irc.landoleet.org, but I'll try it with other networks and let you know.

I just got another ping timeout. It's definitely not as bad as it was before though.

Nope, all replies are normal. Looks like the ping timeouts are just another side effect of the Centro. Try this, log in to the same server with upIRC and leave it along for a while. It'll probably ping timeout as well. Sorry.
