Issues with scrollback on Treo 755p 4 Months, 4 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi,

So far I've really enjoyed PTP2 on my new Treo 755p. I was planning to use a unix shell and a client like ircII or BitchX (my usual IRC method) but PTP2 is much better thus far. However I have encountered one possible bug (with scrollback) and a couple other issues.

When I use the scroll bar to scrollback with the buffer set to > 100 lines, it seems to skip lines/not be smooth, especially when there are long lines. So it's like I'm only seeing bits of the past conversation. Perhaps there is a way to scroll back via the keyboard (perhaps line by line) and I'm missing it. Also the default appears to be that it jumps back to the bottom when new text is typed - perhaps that is configurable in the options and I missed it.

The other thing I encountered was that I did not get an error message when I did /msg user when "user" had left the channel. It might be the server I was using.

Thanks, Orin

Orin,

I will admit that there are some shortcomings with the text display system used in ptpChat 2. The problem is that the underlying framework is all setup for a fancy new text box that is in development seperately. For the time being I have just been using the standard Palm text box and the two sometimes have some... issues. I'm actually planning on using the newer Palm text field that is found in the messaging application. Maybe in the next beta, we'll see.

As far as not receiving an error messaging goes... I'll look into it and see if I missed something and fix it.
