GVoice is a Google Voice Dialer for PalmOS that allows you to initiate a call via your Google Voice account.
Version 0.2.5 (Released 2/25/10):
- Adds functionality to allow you to control your default forwarding phones from the App.
- Accessible from the Settings menu.
Version 0.2.0 (Released 12/2/09):
- Fixed a bug where some folks could validate their account and could not place a call
- Update the code to match the newest authentication changes at Google Voice.
- Added the ability to Send SMS message via Google Voice.
- Added the ability to detect incoming messages from Google Voice and act upon them (see more details below).
- Added Call History - retains the last 10 calls placed via GVoice and
allows you to dial from there (note this is not "yet" the history on
the Google Voice site).
- Added "Paste" Functionality so that number can be pasted in from other apps.
For
detecting incoming SMS messages, you need to first know that this is
kind of an "alpha" release. There are some issues with how the app
unloads itself when you exit it - it is going back to the last app, but
not letting you do anything until you hit the "Home" key a second
time. I am still investigating this problem. In any case here is how
it works:
- You need to go into Settings in GVoice and enable it, and pick a ring tone (this will be independent of your SMS alert).
- From my limited testing it seems that all Google Voice SMS messages are
forwarded from a phone number in area code 406 - so I am detecting
this, and the "+1" that begins each text message. If you experience
anything else, let me know and I will update the app.
- When a new
message arrives the phone will vibrate and alert with your ring tone.
You are provided with the options to respond with GVoice SMS or Call
the person via GVoice. As a 3rd option, you can also let the system
handle the message the way it always does.
- Even if you choose to
not let GVoice handle the messages, it will retain the last message
from area code 406 and allow you to pull it up in the app, in order to
respond to it.
version 0.1.2:
- Call via direct dial or from Contacts
- Paste phone numbers from other apps
- Popup caller ID info from contacts, if TreoStar is installed. (Doesn't Always work-looking at an alternative)
To Do:
- Automatically Download Voicemail when SMS alert arrives.
- Create Call Log for outgoing calls.
- Allow user to add phone number to contacts list
- Send and Receive Google Voice SMS messages
- Retrieve Call/SMS info from Google Voice.
- Retrieve Contact list from Google Voice.
Any other suggestions are welcome.
