 FAQ

Q: How much does ptpChat cost?
A: ptpChat is now completely free!

Q: Will my registration code work on future versions of ptpChat?
A: Yes all pre-freeware verisons of ptpChat 1 and 2 work with each others codes

Q: Why has it taken so long to see a full version of ptpChat?
A: I work on this project in my spare time. I shoot for the highest quality possible and sometimes that alone takes a *lot* of time.

Q: PalmOS doesn't support multitasking, how does ptpChat run in the "Background:?
A: ptpChat uses a 15 second poll to check incoming data and process it while you're using other apps.

Q: Why does ptpChat often lose it's connection when I leave it idle in other applications and my device is turned off?
A: This is caused by the device not being able to poll properly. The background feature was added to allow you to use other apps without losing your connection. If you'd like to simply idle on a server it's recommended that you leave ptpChat as your active application and simply dim the screen. To automatically return to ptpChat when your screen is dimmed select "Return if keyguard active" from the Background preferences. (This only works on Treo devices)

Q: Why does my screen keep getting turned on?
A: Because ptpChat runs in the background by using a 15 second system alarm based poll your screen is automatically turned on. This is a "feature" of PalmOS. To keep your screen from being turned on simply return to ptpChat and dim the screen from there.
